When you have been in a business for many years, like me in the design and production of footwear, sometimes we come to think that we already know the whole process from head to toe, that we know all the tricks and that there is nothing new under the sun, but not always true.
This Autumn-Winter 2021 collection has been a challenge for me and for our collaborators at Regina Romero. It is a collection full of complex silhouettes and novel textures that put years of experience and our logistical and manual capacities to the test.
It should be noted that the steps to follow to create a new development remain the same. At Regina Romero we have spent more than 35 years perfecting this process, which is long and time-consuming but, like a good wine, the result is completely worth it.
A good development of footwear begins with the last, as my father always said "Shoe is written with H " , with H for last. Then we must perfect the sole, which is initially very rigid so that the shoe maintains its shape and does not deform. Then you have to balance the heel and the sole to achieve a stability that feels natural when walking.
All these elements must be in harmony with the design proposed by our designer, Montserrat Vega, who each season is inspired by different concepts and ideas to create iconic models. In addition, small modifications must be made to the figures and silhouettes so that they do not deform when going from one size to another.
Once the initial model has been approved, these steps must be repeated in all sizes, which in our brand go up to 27mx, including all half numbers. This coming and going of corrections, changes and decisions takes approximately 7 to 9 months.
For me it is very pleasing to be able to include all our clients in the step by step of each shoe. To make an informed decision, I believe it is important to fully understand the processes that each of our designs go through. This article is an inside look at some of the challenges we faced in completing our collection this season.

Buen día, los zapatos son preciosos aunque sugiero digo es más por mi beneficio que diseñen x favor botas que tengan puntas redondeadas y/o cuadradas para que sean cómodas para los juanetes x que si ya de por sí duelen con zapatos puntiagudos es peor, por lo demás son hermosos
