Color Crash: Game of Contrasts. Spring Summer 2020 Trends.

5 June 2020

The inspiration for our Spring Summer collection included making this a fun, harmonious collection that radiates joy through its colors and silhouettes. One of the biggest inspirations we had was the game of contrasts. This is what we call the “color crash” which means: colors crashing into each other. The overall color palette of the collection consists of warm colors.

Mustard, terracotta, rose quartz, beige, yogurt and black were the main colors we selected for SS20. Being in the same color range, we were allowed to make daring combinations. A clear example of our inspiration to play with color was the architecture of the Mexican Luis Barragán , who is known for the way he uses color in his constructions.

The images above exemplify how we are inspired to make "blocks of color" , that even when colliding with each other, combine smoothly and harmoniously. The model that we present above is our Poppy platform sandal. The terracotta and quartz tones combine perfectly, and the white color gives a break to the load of color of the shoe.

At the same time that we integrate color, we play with creating our shoes with geometric pieces , thus creating a very architectural and clean general silhouette in the designs. Our hardware, including our iconic monogram pin on the sole of each of our designs, brings a spark of light to the designs and elevates the value of them. Our Maite Low Heel Sandal (shown above) is the perfect example of the organic, geometric design we wanted to create.

Lastly, our Stella pump (shown above) still plays on the theme of architecture, and blocks of color . This model in black patent leather and mustard leather is the perfect definition of how a touch of color is a detail that makes a base color something special. The strong contrast between black, which is a neutral color, colliding with mustard, a warm color, gives a feeling of art and design that is very beautiful and well thought out.
