December 12 is a very special day for our brand . That was the day our founder, my mother, Regina Calzada de Romero, decided to name a footwear brand after a Mexican woman . And, also, it was the day that Regina Calzada and Carlos Romero Huxley (RIP) decided to unite their lives forever . It was also on December 12 when we decided to open our first boutique on Presidente Masaryk Avenue in Polanco. This day means a lot to us.
In 1984 it seemed impossible for a fashion brand named after a Mexican woman to succeed . However, 36 years later we are still standing and with more strength and presence than ever.
During these years we have had all kinds of experiences . Incredible experiences and others not so good but that left us with many lessons to apply in the future. Today we want to share with you what we have learned during these years .
The first years were unforgettable . Trade borders were closed. This favored the growth of our brand. Such was the initial success that in the following years, 1985 and 1986, during the Christmas season, lines were formed in the street to enter our boutique in Presidente Masaryk .
It was also during these years that Regina Romero had historic achievements . We have been pioneers in the Mexican market in many aspects. Among this we can say that we were the first Mexican brand to be sold at El Palacio de Hierro . In addition, we got our privileged space in El Palacio de Hierro , which we keep to this day.
But not everything was honey on flakes. The economic crises of 1994 and 2008 were as hard for us as for anyone. In 1994 we faced a devaluation that did not leave many on the verge of bankruptcy. Instead of choosing to sacrifice quality to reduce costs, we decided that the best option was to look for new 100% Mexican suppliers with international quality, without the extra import price. The world "crash" of the real estate market forced us to create administrative reforms. This fact taught us how essential human capital is .
In 2015 , the remodeling of Presidente Masaryk Avenue in Polanco led many businesses, including us, to look for alternative places to distribute our products. Good news came that same year, because El Palacio de los Palacios in Polanco had just been inaugurated and Regina Romero got the honorary place . A central table in this new branch. It was an opportunity we couldn't turn down.
Unfortunately just one year later, in 2016, we were forced to close our flagship Masaryk boutique . This meant that we fell off the radar of many of our long-standing clients. The vast majority of you were used to making your purchases in our physical store in Mazaryk. But that didn't stop us. The following year, we made the bold decision to transform our business model into e-commerce .
It was a challenge never seen before in the Mexican footwear industry . But we know we took the right path. Today , three years later, we are leaders in the industry . Our innovative business model and unparalleled customer service put us back on the radar of Mexican consumers and we don't plan on stopping.
These 36 years have been ups and downs. But what distinguishes us as a brand, the essence of Regina Romero has remained for almost 40 years .
QUALITY - COMFORT - ELEGANCE
None of this would be possible without you. On behalf of the entire Regina Romero team, we would like to thank all of you who know the true value of a pair of handmade leather shoes and who appreciate the history, work and effort of a 100% company . Mexican .
