Regina Romero on the skin

19 August 2023

Not many years ago, the world was a perfect example of a hegemony that governed everything at all levels: the way of work, laws, fashion, etc. Fortunately, everything is evolving and although there is still a lot of work to be done on complex issues, such as racial inclusion and human rights, we are moving towards a greater presence of those who for many years were hidden under a silent shadow.
I am happy to see these changes and I notice them in many places: more women in corporate jobs and high positions, characters played in film and television by people of different nationalities and races, people fighting for their rights of all kinds around the world, etc. .
But today, especially, I think about the advances that have been made in terms of racial inclusion in the area that concerns my work: fashion. Little by little we see Asian, Latin and African American models on the catwalks, in magazines, in advertising, etc. In 2019, for example, British Vogue launched its “Reframing Fashion” series, a collection with unique covers that opened the door to a new perspective on fashion.
The progress towards the representation and presence of racial diversity in the fashion and luxury industry has been profound and has reached even the most everyday objects. The creation of nude colors particularly caught my attention .

Nude colors , as their name indicates, refer to naked skin. Traditionally, as mentioned at the beginning, they were only associated with Pantone 12-0911 TCX, a Caucasian tone. Luckily, this spectrum of colors has been expanded, giving us much greater versatility.

Subtle nuances that represent skin in vanilla, pinkish, olive and cinnamon tones are a manifestation of tolerance and inclusion; an extensive range that does not adhere to the hegemony of whiteness.
One of the best examples of this theme was the Crayola brand's collection of drawing materials , "Colors of the World", a laudable work aligned with an inclusive world, where real people were involved as models to obtain the tones of the colors. pencils and crayons, finally obtaining 24 colors, from which they derived even more for the brand's various products.
Specifically in the beauty industry, pioneering brands, such as Estée Lauder, had long considered this, launching makeup lines ranging from snowy to almond skin.
From makeup to shoes. Calypso , Lua , Dalila and Kali models
We couldn't stay behind. Just as you can find makeup shades that are right for you, you can also have these shades on your shoes, from latte, coral and pink ranges to tan and brown shoes.
models polina , nicole , jolene and judy
Nude footwear has the advantage that, by blending with your skin, or giving it a slight contrast, it stylizes your legs, making them look longer. Furthermore, the colors in this range are elegant, timeless and create impeccable outfits.
