One of the many definitions of art that we know is based on the Greek concept of techne . According to the classics, the technique used in the creation of a work of art is essential for it to be considered "art". Years later, in the Renaissance, only those pieces that carried a trade to excellence were considered art.
At Regina Romero we have been perfecting our technique for making shoes for 37 years. That is why each pair is a small work of art.
But how is a work of art born? This varies depending on the artist but in general the same steps are followed. in his book The unbearable lightness of being , Milan Kundera writes that the characters , like a painting , a sculpture or a piece of music , are not born from the body of a mother, but from a situation, a metaphor, a phrase or from the simple observation of Around us.
We know that inspiration can come in any form , it is a stimulus or sudden lucidity that a person feels and that favors creativity. Our designer Montserrat Vega takes inspiration from everyday items to create gorgeous shoe designs that become a conversation piece wherever you go .
And it is that art has always been controversial . Being an exclusively human need , the product that is later considered art is a translation of something material from the contemporary world and how the artist interprets it. To achieve this translation, you first have to imagine it, dream it and then sketch it so that it becomes that exquisite pair of shoes.
Once with the inspiration in mind and the sketch in hand, you have to choose the materials . There is an anecdote told by art historians in which they say that to create the famous sculpture of La Pietà , Michelangelo chose from a pile of marble blocks the one that contained the essence necessary to give life to his work. Similarly, we personally select each of the leathers, fittings and other materials that will be part of your Regina Romero pair.
Shoes, or at least good shoes , are themselves a work of art. These share elements and characteristics with which we regularly judge the works: the games of colors and figures; the shadows and lights ; the interaction that the piece creates with the space and above all, the effect it will have on the viewer or, in the case of the shoes, the woman wearing them who, with each step , will give life to the work of art that once only existed in our imagination.
ADELA
Saludos!
