According to the RAE (Royal Academy of the Spanish Language) the perfect word refers to “those things that have the maximum degree of a certain quality ; having the highest possible degree of goodness or excellence in its line.” However, although the language specifies the use of this word only for inanimate objects , in everyday life it is common for us to use this adjective to describe people .

Many things are required of us women . We have to be mothers , friends , wives , housewives , cooks , workers , athletes , lovers and confidants . All while looking flawless and wearing the latest fashion statement. We must be the perfect woman . However, this myth is an artificial construction .

On the other hand, and again we quote the RAE , authenticity is defined as “that person who is aware of himself , shows himself as he is . It is something or someone that is original , that is, it is not an imitation of something else that already exists.”

We live in a very competitive society that requires us to always be up to date and motivates us to be the best in everything we do. Normally we think that with sacrifice and discipline everything is possible , but, if we are realistic, the almost mechanical perfection that is imposed on us is unattainable .

If we transport these adjectives to the world of footwear , footwear made 100% of leather and by hand, as we usually do at Regina Romero, we can associate it with the materials used to make the shoes : genuine leather and synthetic leather .

Genuine leather , as you well know, is an organic material . Like everything from nature, it is imperfect . In contrast, faux fur is seamless and shimmery . His appearance is impeccable , without a doubt, but he lacks personality . It's just plastic, cold and hard. Also, like everything synthetic, its prevalence in this world is temporary . As soon as the canons change this too, without leaving a mark worth remembering.

We can give this construction another twist : try to stop being perfect, but be perfectible . It is better to live authentically , go after our dreams, set new goals, build a path and never stop learning. But, above all, enjoy the best of this world .

Thinking that we are perfect can lead us to the mistake of believing that there is nothing to improve , nothing to learn and nothing to change, because in front of perfection there is nothing else .
